As soon as we stepped off the train at Hope (Derbyshire), we were greeted by blue skies, a crisp chill in the air, and when I looked around - snow. Myself and a few creative friends were there that day to shoot two projects, one of which was to capture some of my Portal pieces in a trail running setting.
We made our way up towards Winn Hill, heading for a wooded area our photographer had suggested. I’d originally envisioned a woodland trail covered in autumnal foliage, with brown and red earth underfoot. But as I saw the light breaking through the edge of the trees and felt my feet sink ankle-deep into the snow, I realised this was one of those rare moments where reality surpassed the plan.Originally intending to shoot two looks. One all black, and another featuring browns, woodland camouflage, and pewter. I decided that there was no need for the black. The brown look just felt right in that environment.Making the most of the landscape and everything it offered, we captured images that gave the garments a real sense of belonging as if they were exactly where they were meant to be.
